Arkansas Lighthouse Charter School District is taking a proactive step to ensure every educator has a clear roadmap toward earning or advancing their Arkansas teaching license. On November 19th & December 3rd, the district conducted individualized, one-on-one meetings with every teacher, demonstrating its commitment to professional development and long-term educator success.
During these sessions, representatives from the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) reviewed each educator’s formal education background, discussed Praxis testing requirements and pathways, and explored alternative licensure options such as Arkansas Teacher Corps, iTeach, Teach for America (TFA), and Master’s Degree leading to a first-time license (MAT, MEd, MTLL). Each teacher received personalized next steps tailored to their unique credentials and goals.
Chief of Staff Kimberly Eddings shared how the initiative took shape, noting, “The idea came to me as I saw how many of our educators needed clearer, individualized guidance. Every teacher’s journey is different, and it’s important that we create a process that honors that. These one-on-one meetings give our staff clarity, direction, and a plan that truly meets their personal needs. When teachers know their next step, they feel empowered—and that leads to stronger outcomes for our entire district.”
This initiative reflects Arkansas Lighthouse’s ongoing dedication to supporting its teaching staff through transparent communication, structured planning, and a clear path toward licensure completion. The district remains focused on removing barriers, providing resources, and ensuring all educators feel confident and prepared as they progress toward meeting state certification requirements.
Arkansas Lighthouse continues to prioritize investing in its team—empowering educators so they can, in turn, empower scholars.
