We spotted some Jacksonville ALSEA scholars having a great time on their hunt at the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center. Do you think they solved all of their animal clues?

Week 2 was a huge success at our Arkansas Lighthouse Summer Enrichment Academy and some more of our amazing staff members were "caught" going above and beyond during our second week. Please help us congratulate:
Shyrletta Wilson - Jacksonville
Kari Moore - Flightline
Kimberly Tyson - Capital City
LaCandiace Moses - Pine Bluff
Each of these educators received a $5.00 Starbucks gift card! Keep up the great work and let's see who gets "caught" next week!

It was a day of clear skies and soaring spirits as our Pine Bluff ALSEA scholars visited the North Little Rock Municipal Airport to learn more about aviation.

The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art hosts a stunning collection of art and exhibitions as well as 120 acres of beautiful Arkansas nature to explore. Our Scholars had a great time exploring this beautiful area.

How bright are our scholars? Well, according to these multimeters, they are super bright! Learning how light affects our crops is a big part of agriculture. The researchers at the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences took some time to show our scholars just how that works with this fun experiment.

Our Pine Bluff ALSEA Scholars are learning about Public Service this week. They created these cards and delivered care packages to the Fire Department and Paramedics. They really enjoyed the tour they got to take of the fire station.

Our scholars were able to view many wonderful art pieces from The Dirty South exhibit, such as the Dobale to the Spirit by Fahamu Pecou (pictured below). We are always looking for cultural experiences for our scholars and love partnering with organizations such as the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to enrich our scholars.

Rain, Rain, Glow Away! It might have been dreary outside, but our Jacksonville ALSEA scholars had just the ticket to cheer things up - a glow party in the gym. They had so much fun! We appreciate all of our teachers and staff who came together to brighten our scholars' rainy day.

Scholars got a taste of marketing and sales and how that affects the consumer in a food sciences activity at the University of Arkansas this week. They even got to test those methods with a sweet taste test.

Flightline scholars enjoyed a sunny afternoon at the North Little Rock Municipal Airport this week. What a fun learning experience for our ALSEA scholars!

Congrats to our ALSEA AgriSTEM Summer Institute participants!!
They were recognized during today’s White Coat Ceremony @bumperscollege by Dr. Robertson!!
This amazing group will be Arkansas Lighthouse Academies inaugural Arkansas Junior MANRRS chapter!!

Who knew that there was so much to learn about rice? The Arkansas rice breeding program is a key component for maintaining a viable rice industry and our scholars got to learn all about rice variations at the Rosen Greenhouse at the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences this week.

Ms. Harris's art lesson today was a slam dunk! These ALSEA scholar art pieces are golden!

Chip, chip, hurray! It's salsa time! Our scholars rounded out their food adventures with homemade salsa. A special thank you to our friends at the University of Arkansas for making learning so delicious.

Ms. Meredith's ALSEA class had a blast learning about reactions. Watching those balloons fill up is so much fun! Just look at those smiles!

We can always count on our Pine Bluff ALSEA teachers to make learning fun. Scholars are learning that math is everywhere! A special shout out to Hayle who was the first one to finish her "Figure Me Out" math project. Great job, guys!

Taryn Bewley, Miss UofA, visited Capital City today to read and donate books to all of the scholars. She will compete in the Miss Arkansas pageant this weekend.

Feeling a little peckish? No worries - our scholars are ready to cook some delicious chicken with the new skills they picked up at the University of Arkansas this week.
