Transformation really can take shape beyond the walls.
Our very own Mrs. Herrin connected with local farmer Mr. Luigi Campos, who generously donated a (Tower Garden Rack - Vertical Farming) to empower our scholars to discover their inner urban farmer. The Flightline campus can now grow 128 plants at a time, harvested every 45 days.
Over the upcoming weeks, our JR MANRRS scholars will learn how to do daily water testing and a variety of other skills to tackle some critical food system issues occurring throughout the globe.
They will grow fresh specialty crops, including lettuce, beets, radishes, bok choy, carrots, flowers, and herbs. Our scholars are eager and committed to transforming our community and our world.

Good Morning ARLCS Parents:
Due to the threat of freeing rain, all campuses will observe a 2-hour delayed start today. Classes will begin at 10:00am. All buses transporting scholars to the Middle School campus will depart from the High School campus promptly at 9:30am.
ARLCS Families, we are monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow (Monday, Jan. 22) as our region is facing the potential threat of accumulating freezing rain during the morning hours. We are planning to open our campuses for regular school tomorrow; however, we will assess travel conditions early in the morning and make a final determination on whether a delay or cancellation is necessary. We plan to communicate our status by 6 a.m. tomorrow via email and text. Furthermore, there will be no late start on Monday, January 22nd. All classes will commence at 8 am, and the school day will conclude at 3: 25 pm.
All Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools (ARCS) will remain closed again tomorrow, Friday, January 19th. Classes will resume Monday, January 22nd at the regular scheduled time (late start Mondays).

Christmas meets Agriculture
Our agriculture Educator, Ms. Mahan shared her thoughts on a recent beyond the walls leading experience.
“Scholars had the opportunity to learn about the importance of Christmas Tree Farming. We traveled to Shillings Family Christmas Tree Farm in Lonoke, AR. Scholars harvested their favorite tree to showcase at the Literacy Night this past week! Did you know that real Christmas Trees help the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen? They also are a renewable resource and recyclable.” There are more facts on the National Christmas Tree Association website if you want to add any more or change anything.

Don't forget!! Tomorrow begins our "5 Days Before Christmas Break" spirit week! As we prepare for our last week of instruction before our holiday break, let's have a little fun and dress festive each day!
This is also a great time to sign up for After School tutoring that begins on Monday, January 8. Our tutoring program will help scholars improve their literacy achievement, receive personalized math instruction, get scholars involved in extracurricular activities, and scholars will receive direct assistance related to test taking strategies that include the ATLAS Exam (the AR State Exam, the ACT test, and more!!!! Please contact the school ata 501-985-1228 if you have any questions about this FREE beneficial program. You can sign up using the link posted in the attached letter.
