The Beyond the walls field experience lesson today was about water equity. Scholars connected with local artist Tanya Hollifield who discussed the importance of the mural. Water is life and the conservation, the negative impact of plastic water bottles, the water cycle from raindrops in the forest to our faucets at home impact the whole globe.

At Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools
we understand the impact of mentorship and hosted our inaugural Junior MANRRS Leadership Institute at The Vines Center (Arkansas 4-H Center), sponsored by Pulaski County Youth Services.
As the state's first and only chapter, we haven't wasted time keeping our commitment to developing the next generation of agriculture and STEM professionals.
This year's institute focused on soft skill development. Over 70 7th and 8th graders participated in the Arkansas 4-H ExCEL Program led by Taylor Knox, Affiliated with U of A Division of Agriculture Research and Extension.
Key findings:
Nearly $1000 was awarded to scholars who were recognized for their leadership and engagement during our institute.
1) Team building is an essential part of success.
2) We are always working through uncontrollable conditions (weather) but must remain steadfast and keep working as a team.
3) Mentorships can transform your life. The connections = relationships
4) It becomes an issue of national security if Arkansas talent, especially if tech talent, isn't developed. Our state economy and job creation depend on opportunities not being outsourced.
We are cultivating sustainable pathways.
