Look who we caught making it happen!!! We’re SPOTLIGHTING  our very own Dr. Gabriel Jackson, Education Director at Pine Bluff Lighthouse. Dr. Jackson was featured not once, but twice, as he presented and filmed professional development courses on PBS Arkansas IDEAS today. These two ethics courses on Social Media Influence and Professional Responsibilities are a part of a 12 course series for Arkansas Novice Educator Induction Program. A program sponsored by Arkansas PBS and the Arkansas Department of Education. We see you Dr. Jackson! Keep SHINING your LIGHT!

Welcome to November, or at Arkansas Lighthouse what we call- GIVEmber! It's the 1st of 30 days for you to show your love for Arkansas Lighthouse by making a donation to our campaign. This year we're challenging our friends, family, corporate and community partners to donate (ALL MONTH) and help us reach our goal of $10K. Your generosity will assist in preparing our scholars to become the next leaders in AgriSTEM, Public Service and Social Entrepreneurship. The funds will support our teachers and scholars going above and beyond the classroom by providing real life enrichment through field experiences and project based learning opportunities. Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools selected as Semifinalists for the $1 Million Yass Prize. LaShawnDa D. Noel Executive Director/Superintendent and Wendell Scales Jr. Deputy Director of Innovation accepted the award for ARLCS. Leaders from 32 of the most exceptional educational organizations in the nation across twenty states learned today they were semifinalists for this year’s prestigious Yass Prize for Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding and Permissionless Education, which comes with a $1 million grand prize. The event, held by the Yass Prize in partnership with Forbes, was keynoted by Forbes Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media Steve Forbes, Yass Prize Founder Janine Yass and previous recipients of the Yass Prize and STOP Awards Initiative. The 32 semifinalists announced will receive at least a $200,000 STOP Award grant and will vie for six $250,000 awards as well as the $1 million Yass Prizes to be announced on December 14. A new Yass Prize platform and three-week virtual accelerator will help all applicants coalesce to learn from one another as well as entrepreneurs, technology leaders and investors. The finalists will move onto an intensive in-person accelerator program and pitch competition to be held in Miami, Florida in December. The 2022 finalists and $1 million Yass Prize winner will be announced on December 14, 2022. Reminder! This Thursday is our College and Career Night! Doors open at 5 pm. We will have over 10 representatives from various colleges, military branches, and community programs. All seniors and parents must be here to hear about college applications, financial aid such as FAFSA and scholarships, and the senior trip. 9-11th grade scholars and parents are welcome to attend.

Scholar Highlight! Kabron recently started the Automotive Service program at ASU-Beebe as part of the Certification Track at our high school. So far, he has received over 13 certifications and he is not stopping! Congrats Kabron, we are so proud of you 😊

September's School Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27th at 5:30 pm. Join us this month at our Jacksonville Elementary campus located at 251 N 1st Street.

Save the Date! This year's College and Career Night will be Thursday, October 13th at 5:30 PM in the High School's MPR. We are requesting that all seniors and parents attend so that you may receive valuable information needed for seniors to succeed this year and beyond. 9-11th graders and parents are welcomed to attend.

Today, September 20th, is National Voter Registration Day. To celebrate, we will have representatives from the NAACP on site at our Jacksonville Lighthouse High School Campus from 11:45am - 1:00Pm for voter registration. This is open to our community and families as well as any scholar on campus who will be 18 before elections. Come out and make sure that your voice will be heard!

Today, Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools celebrated the 1st Day of School in fantastic, fun and exciting ways! Some of our scholars arrived to DJ’s and 360 photo machines, others participated in team building activities, and many walked in, enjoyed breakfast and returned to buses traveling to education field experiences across our communities in Central and Southeast Arkansas. As we continue Charting the Course to Excellence. We are excited and look forward to an amazing school year.
